MLB Moneyline Pick Of The Day

White Sox F5 ML vs. Guardians (-127, BetRivers)

I realize that taking the White Sox in any game is usually going to end badly, which is why I have never bet them to actually win a game this season. However, I have taken them on the first five innings ML a couple of times, and I'll do that again here tonight.

LHP Garrett Crochet is on the mound for Chicago, and there is almost no one in MLB who is due for more positive regression than he is. He owns a huge 5.31 ERA, but a small 1.01 WHIP, and his advanced stats say that he has been very unlucky. Crochet owns a 2.41 xERA and 2.92 xFIP, which is WAY lower than his actual ERA. This guy has had worse luck than me at the roulette table, and that is something to behold.

On the other side, RHP Carlos Carrasco has actually been very bad. He owns a 5.67 ERA and 1.62 WHIP, and the advanced numbers concur that he just sucks. His 5.16 xERA and 4.92 xFIP confirm that. Chicago has a garbage offense, but they have been frisky lately. I think they have the advantage early in this game.

However, their bullpen is hot garbage, so I won't back them to win the game.

MLB Over/Under Picks Of The Day

Guardians at White Sox Over 7 Runs (-120, DraftKings)

We took the under 8 in yesterday's White Sox game, but today, we are going to take the over. This is mostly due to my fade of Carrasco above, and the fact that once Crochet leaves, I expect the Chicago bullpen to allow some runs. We saw them almost blow the lead yesterday yet again, and they have one of the worst pens in baseball.

Cubs at Pirates F5 Under 3.5 Runs (+102, BetRivers)

Chicago will send RHP Javier Assad to the hill once again tonight, and he has been a diamond in the rough for the Cubs. They seem to have found a gem with him, as he has been fantastic for them to this point. He has a 1.66 ERA and 1.03 WHIP, and his advanced stats also agree that he has been great. He'll also face a Pittsburgh lineup that has been just terrible against right-handed pitchers this season, with the lowest wRC+ in baseball at 74. I don't think they will be able to get much going on Assad.

The same can be said for RHP Jared Jones, who the Pirates have hurling for them. He's a rookie, but he has been nothing but dominant on the mound. He owns a 2.63 ERA and a minuscule 0.78 WHIP, so he does not allow many hits or walks. Chicago's offense is pretty average against right-handers, so I don't think they will tee off on him.
